Many wants to achive it, but nobody would ever be perfect. My referance to this article are two articles from The Star and New Straits Times respectively. Here are the links; Less Than Perfect and Charice gets Botox!
In my opinion, there are two types of perfectionism. These two types are depicted through both of the articles above.
In the first article, the type of perfectionism mentioned is where a person wants every single aspect of their everyday life organised to perfection. In that article, the woman, Sharon and her husband leads a very organised life. So organised to perfection until the extend where they have sex every Saturday for 12 minutes. Wow, huh?
Now, I don't have any sexual experience, but I agree with the author on their intercourse not deserving the term "making love" because, as to quote the author, "making love should be expressive and spontaneous". Having a life organised to every detail may be a wonderful idea to some, because everyday would be just the same. A simpler life.
But I do not agree with that kind of perfectionism.
Imagine doing the same thing, up to every little detail, everyday. Such as, waking up at 8 am, tidy the bed at 8.01 am, take a shower at 8.05 am, dry off at 8.15 am, etc. Doesn't it sound tiring to you? In fact, it sounds way more tiring that the usual routine where we get up for work around 8am and get back at 5pm. What's life without a little twist here and there? We only live once, do we really want to spend a lifetime in a rut until the day our corpses are buried under the soils?
No, thank you!
As for the second article, its about perfectionism regarding our physical appearances. You do know Charice, right? If you get in your car and tune into the radio, there's no way you'd miss her hit single, Pyramid. I think she's a very talented singer, amazing vocal range and so on, but yes, she is not as attractive as Victoria's Secret Angel, Miranda Kerr, or as cute as Selena Gomez, for the least.
So what she did was, she had botox injections and minor plastic surgery on her face to narrow her rounded face.
Charice: Before
Charice : Recently.
It caused an uproar when she did a plastic surgery on her face as well as botox injections. But the truth is, that's just how it is. Women wants to look beautiful, but in show biz, the pressure is thrice the amount. Lets face it, if the singer isn't attractive, chances are slim for her to outsell Beyonce.
This leads to perfectionism on your physical appearances. Small bust? Get a boob job done. Monolid? Get double eye lids with a surgery. Excess fat? Liposuction to the rescue! Big nose? Get a nose job done, or in some cases, not tall enough? You can get taller through a surgery, too. If, you're willing to risk ever being able to walk again, of course!
Apart from that, make ups promotes perfectionism, too. It depends on the user how she conceals her flaws and enhance her beauty, but some use make up to extremes in cases where they look nothing like themsleves after make up application! Just like one of my friends. I couldn't possibly put her picture here, but well, she use make up to make her eyes appear way too big ( eyeliners make them appear bigger, but big to the extend you look like you have golf ball sized eyes is too much!), her nose slimmer, her lips bigger, etc. Did you know you can even create the illusion of a cleavage with make up foundation? Search the magazines. They teach you that!
Perfectionism brings so much negativity. We wouldn't live life to the fullest, we are never satisfied with what God gives us. Then, when do we ever start LIVING?
