Paul The Octopus

Scenario One: A 2 years old octopus eats a morsel of food from a box with a flag of a nation emblazoned on it.
Scenario Two: Gambler places their bets depending on the flag of the nation that is on the box of food the octopus had eaten from.
Scenario Three: The football team on which it's nation's flag was on the box of food the octopus had eaten from wins a match.
Scenario Four: The octopus is hailed as a psychic octopus and gamblers place more bets according to the octopus.

Im talking about Paul, of course. If you do not know who Paul is, then rest assured he is not your neighbour's psychotic ex-boyfriend. Or yours, for that matter.

Paul the octopus is currently a world wide sensation. This octopus has been predicting World Cup winning matches as well as the World Cup champion team. So, a sarcastic person like me would ponder, how can these people trust so much money on a SQUID?

But, mind you, all his predictions have proven to be true, and so, all hail Paul!

Ridiculous as it may seem, but it's true. It's a global sensation. And now that the World Cup has finally ended ( thank God), there have been issues on Paul's safety. Some Germany fans have been threatening to turn Paul into fried calamari, meanwhile the winning team, Spain, is bidding for it's protection.

This has always been how the world is like. They get heated up about the most ridiculous of things, forgetting the more important issues. My opinion? If the Spanish wants it, let them have it. The octopus is as good as dead should it be left in Germany. But I don't think it's a good idea to let the octopus ever get into the limelight for the next World Cup. It spoils all the fun to know who will win before the match had even started,

On the other hand, the octopus can be used as a tourist attraction. Set him up in a marine park somewhere and let people see him swimming around in his aquarium, where a replica of the World Cup throphy gleams. Believe me, any football addict would visit the aquarium.

This is the original article on the fight for the octopus' safety. Spain Wants To Ensure Paul's Safety.
